Do I Have to File IFTA If My Truck Didn’t Run?

A lot of truckers think that if their truck didn’t move, they don’t have to file IFTA.
That’s not true.
Last week I helped a client who didn’t operate their truck at all during the year. Even with zero miles driven, the IFTA report still had to be filed, every quarter — just with zero miles and zero fuel.
If you skip the filing, the state can:
Mark you non-compliant
Charge penalties
Suspend your IFTA account
A “zero mile” IFTA report is still a valid and required report.
If you’re not sure whether your IFTA was filed correctly, or you skipped a quarter because you didn’t run, GLS Insurance can help you fix it and stay compliant.
